The project

A free platform teaching programming logic and C++ to teenagers, breaking content into micro-lessons with visible progression — the Duolingo method applied to code. It was Alexandre’s undergraduate thesis, awarded in 2022, and it is the direct reason the FAI Quiz exists: his thesis co-advisor remembered this project when the college described what it needed, three years later. In August 2026 the project was resumed and rebuilt from scratch: everything the academic work specified but never left the prototype stage — a prerequisite-gated track, XP, daily streaks, achievements, rankings, reports and an admin area — became real.

Technical highlights

  • Rebuilt in Next.js 16 and TypeScript, keeping the 2022 brand and research
  • A C++ curriculum with 9 modules and 72 activities across four formats
  • Tree-shaped track: finishing a module unlocks the next ones
  • Full gamification: XP, levels, daily streaks, 14 achievements and period rankings
  • The thesis’ 4 basic, 9 functional and 4 output requirements, plus 10 use cases, implemented
